Pre-Season Reminders

It is finally here! After a long and dreary winter spent dreaming about laps on the velodrome, preseason racing is making its return. Eight long months have passed. That’s 32 weeks or around 224 days scheming about track racing. Planning the first attack of the season. Visualizing that ringing bell. It starts now: four months of Fridays at the velodrome, relaxing underneath the lights and racing. Four months of speed, friends, beer garden trips, biscuit eating, tired legs (the good kind), prime sprints, lap boards, that long walk to the porta-potty, Bilko’s voice, good races, bad races, and great times.

Just in case you need a reminder, here’s what we think that you should bring to the first Friday night of the season:

Bike/clothes/shoes/helmet/glasses
Tools/chainrings/cogs
Race license (we only need to see this once!)
Cash/check for racing. Our fees are attached below.
A dollar for parking
Full water bottles: We’ll have a cooler on the warm days, but come prepared!
An all around awesome attitude
A chair to sit on in the infield?
And sorry folks, but this is Washington. So make sure to bring a jacket for when the sun goes down because the first couple nights of racing will get a little chilly by the end of the session!

It’s been a long winter, but we at the MVA are excited about the season to come. There is much in store and Friday night preseason is only the beginning. So come on out for Friday Night lights, have some fun racing, and remember that the bell in a Win-n-out or an Unknown Distance when you are off the front is the sweetest noise that you will ever hear.

See you out there.
