The online pre-registration for the 2014 Marymoor Grand Prix is now live!  The greatest race on two wheels, the fastest action of the summer, home to the biggest women field in national competition, the first place to do a women’s Madison, the race that still does equal payout for all the fields… Yeah, that’s the race we’re talking about.  It’s getting closer and closer by the day and now it’s your time to get signed up for the competition.

But first, a History Lesson…

The past years of the Marymoor Grand Prix have been a huge success.  The event has become and remains the cornerstone of international and national class competition in the Northwest, bringing some of track’s finest competitors to Redmond, Washington.  So far, the event has drawn monumental crowds to watch US, Canadian and New Zealand Olympians, track junkies, sprinting specialists, record setters and Marymoor’s fastest in a wide variety of events.

Historically, Dave Mann has been the man of the event (pun intended!).  For the first time, Dave will be stepping down to allow someone else to step up and organize the event.  Dave’s hard work has paid off – the MVA and director Amara Edwards have taken the lead on this excellent tradition as no one in our community wants to see it fall off the map.  The race has become one of the most significant events on our annual race calendar, and we’re proud to preserve the finest competition in the Northwest!

What you can expect this year…

First of all, mark your calendars.  Racing is July 25th and 26th at the Marymoor Track.  Session 1 starts at 9:00 AM and Session 3 may go as late as 11:00 PM (depending on schedule).

The race flyer and prize purse are also up, take a look!

Here, you can download the full size race poster.

And of course, check out the promo video! (Same video in this story)

The race schedule may be subject to change.  More on that in a bit.

Time to sign-up!!

If you’re an athlete hoping to sign-up for the race, there is only one piece of advice we have for you: DON’T WAIT FOR THE DAY OF THE RACE TO REGISTER!!

It’s a good idea to learn from the past, and if the past tells us anything about the GP, it’s that the fields fill fast.  This past Friday night, Marymoor had a 1/2 field of 32 racers.  In the past several years, we reached capacity in at least one of the fields before racing started.  With Masters Nationals coming to Marymoor this year, even more riders are likely to show up and compete than we have had in a long time.

All this to say, pre-registration is a good thing.  We will continue to offer registration on site, but there is no guarantee we’ll be able to accommodate you.  If volume of pre-registration is enough, we’ll try our best to accommodate for the increased registration and make the schedule work in such a way to fit everyone in.

Convinced?  Head to register now on the USAC website.  PLEASE NOTE: The prize money is listed incorrectly on the USAC site due to their restrictions.  Use information posted on our website for the correct numbers. ALSO NOTE: The race is being run as NTC but not UCI, no UCI points will be awarded only NTC.

Registration closes July 23rd at Midnight PST.
