Roller Race #2 Recap – Finale Details Too!

The Second Roller Race, held at Element Cycles in Redmond, WA was a big hit!  Many competitors from our first race returned to challenge everyone from vets to noobies in our just-for-fun-but-still-wildly-competitive Roller Racing Series.  Keep reading for the current standings as well as some information about the third and final race.

Element Cycles, one of the MVA’s great sponsors and partners in the community, was willing to play host to our rowdy crowd of cyclists.  They cleared out a big space and even provided an HD tv for the race software.  Thanks Element Cylces!

Once again, racing was exciting and fun to watch.  Each category had some great competition, highlighted by some really fast head-to-head matchups that didn’t fail to disappoint.  We’re most excited by the close matchups in the men categories – Elite riders Andrew Carlberg and Tony Cordova have now each had a 1st and 2nd place time, putting them both at 9 points a piece.  It would be the same for Mike Freimann and Ken Dong, if it wasn’t for the sudden appearance of Will “Kirk” Robinson and his fast time in the second race.  Mike and Ken are now tied at 8 each, but shouldn’t feel too safe there just yet.

Finale Details

More importantly, the final race of the series is coming up!  On the last Saturday of March, the 29th, we’ll be up at Tech City Bowl in Kirkland starting at 6 PM and running until 9PM.  This final race will feature some of the best stuff yet, including double series points, bowling for participants, and food/bar available on location!

We’ll be handing out season points prizes as well, which will include a bunch of Jennie Reed signed posters, t-shirts, spectator passes and other MVA goodies.

Want to be part of the fun?  Of course you do!  There is a $20 cover to get in, and bowling will cost another $5 to rent the shoes.  See you there!

On a more serious note: Though we had an ok turn-out for our first race, the organizers were slightly dissapointed by our turn-out at the second race.  We know we have enough people in this community to really pack this last race.  So it falls to everyone to make sure to invite anyone who has even seen a track bike before (or can bowl (EVERYONE!)) and clear your calendar for what should be one of the best events of the year!
