June 3rd Track Renaming Ceremony

posted in: Events, News 0

By now, I think everyone has heard about Jerry Baker and the renaming of the track. We’ve all heard how the legendary cyclist was practically the sole person who made the track a reality. We’ve listened to people tell stories about how he’s logged 210,000+ miles on his bicycle. I bet you even heard that how he gave everything he had to this cycling community, right up until his last breath, and few cyclists don’t have a story about how he has impacted them, their careers, and their lives in a positive way.

That’s certainly the inspiration behind the renaming of the track – memorializing a legend, the man we all owe so much to. We want to make it official, and this June 3rd, the track will be hosting a renaming ceremony to do just that!

That’s right, before we kick-off with the first race of the 2016 season, participants and spectators will join us in a unique ceremony to commemorate Jerry Baker’s life and the track’s name change. The ceremony gets underway at 7:00 PM and will include the unveiling of a memorial rock along with comments from Baker’s family.
