Volunteer Opportunities!

Looking for your chance to step up and be a part of something bigger than yourself?  The Marymoor Velodrome Association has some BIG volunteer needs that we’re looking to fill.  Let’s get right into the job descriptions!

Fill-in Announcer – I have been graced with the opportunity to go back to school, starting this summer, to begin work on my Master’s in Music Ed.  This causes a bit of a problem – I currently announce for Monday and Wednesday nights on the track!  As it stands, we’re in need of someone who can fill in for my absence, beginning the week of July 8th and lasting through July 24th.  That’s a total of 6 nights of announcing, with a time commitment of roughly 6:00pm-10:00pm (at the latest).  This position is compensated, due to the extra work and responsibility placed on the position.  If you’re interested in giving this a shot, contact me at webadm@velodrome.org and let me know.  I would certainly invite you to work with me on a Monday and/or Wednesday night before my absence so you have a chance to familiarize yourself with the job.  And if you’re not certain you’ll enjoy it, just give it a shot and see what you think.

Monday Night Race Volunteer/Wednesday Night Race Volunteer – Every race night, we offer rental track bikes for racers to use and then return at the end of the night.  We need a volunteer for Monday and Wednesday night to help rent the bikes out during registration time.  After registration closes, you’d be responsible for running the lap cards and ringing the bell.  We’re seeking to fill this position for the remainder of the race season – it’s a season-long commitment (at least one month).  The volunteer would need to arrive no later than 5:30 PM on the race night.  After racing ends, you’d help check back in the bikes and return them to their place in the bike storage.  This position rewards free race entree for yourself or a family member.  If interested, contact the director, Amara Edwards, and let her know of your interest.

These are bigger commitments, but we have plenty of smaller and equally important jobs that we need people for.  Check out the volunteer page for an up-to-date list of all the volunteer positions we are looking to fill.  You must be signed in to your velodrome.org user account to be able to edit this list.  Alternatively, you can e-mail what you’d like to do and we can get your information updated.

Big thinks to Peter Hinkley to be the new MVA Volunteer Coordinator.  There’s a ton of volunteer needs and Peter was willing to help us get people down to the track and on task!  Awesome news for us at the Marymoor Velodrome indeed!
