Fred’s Race Re-cap and More

posted in: Uncategorized 0

Fred’s Race is already here and gone, and we celebrated the achievements of all the racers that turned out throughout the weekend. Though there are simply too many medals and catgeories to review in full, it’s worth going back and looking at some of the highlights from the whole event. There are literally dozens of people to thank as well for all their hard work. Read on for all the details!

Officially, this was the 2nd Annual Fred C. Rehberger Memorial Washington State Masters & Juniors Track Cycling Championships. The race’s purpose is to highlight all Masters and Juniors competitors in every kind of event we have to offer on the track, all while giving fans a great show along the way. With so many athletes showing up to compete in the timed events Saturday morning, our first highlight turned into a bit of a problem – great racer turn out meant Session #1 lasted late into the evening! Our fans and spectators that came to watch and waited through the delay were rewarded with some great racing Saturday evening though. Close finishes, exciting sprints, fantastic Keiring racing, and of course our magnificent raffle.

Our 10-12 Junior Women champions! The future of Women cycling getting featured.

Speaking of that raffle, the beneficiaries of the raised funds were the Mark Bender Family and the UW Autism Center. The raffle itself saw some spectators and a whole lot of racers (who obviously bought a bunch of the raffle tickets…) get some great prizes, including both the beautiful yellow cruiser bike and the Xbox package. A big thanks to the sponsors for the event:

  • BikeSport
  • Element Cycles
  • Slalolm Consulting Racing
  • The Resistance
  • Recycled Cycles
  • Fischer Plumbing Racing
  • Broadmark Capital/Lake Washington Velo

As well as some of our Raffle donators (I’m sure I’ve missed some!):

  • biketiresdirect.com
  • Element Cycles
  • Tech City Bowl
  • The Microsoft Xbox Support team & Tony Veteri
  • Espresso-Works in Kenmore
  • The Aregger family
  • The Perry family

And finally, a big thanks to all the fabulous volunteers helping put on the event:

  • Amara Edwards
  • Rob Perry
  • Tre
  • Kirsten L’Heureux
  • Jen Lil
  • Annette Williams

  • And any others I forgot… (add them in a comment!)

And the biggest news is the winner of the Fred’s Race Omnium Competition is… … …
