Collegiate Nats Highlights

Our season is about to come to a close, but not before we give one more report on how our Marymoor athletes are doing at national competition!  This week, we’ll be taking you to Colorado Springs, CO for a quick recap on the USA Cycling Collegiate Track Nationals.  Be sure to read on to get all the details, including how our locals finished in the overall competition.

First of all, allow me to set the stage.  For those of you out there not privy to the college life, it basically can be summed up in this composite image…

It should come as no suprise then that Collegiate nats reflect this kind of high-flying life style!  Athletes often carpool down to save on gas money, sleep on luxurious side-walks to help build character, and prefer the “simple” diet to fortify their spirit and resolve.  Our competitors, under these luxurious conditions, competed admirably and raced to get some nice finished amongst the weekend.  Let’s see who all made the journey down!

University of Washington – Logan Fox, Will Niemann-Ross, Ian Schmidt, Rory Jack, Kelly Plese, Nancy Williams

Seattle University – David Polansky, Nick Martinez, Tanja Streiff

Bellevue College – Conor Klupar

Of these racers, some managed to earn some very impressive results.
  • 4th Sprints – Conor Klupar (featured in the photo at the top)
  • 6th Scratch – Rory Jack
  • 10th Points – Kelly Plese
  • 10th Mixed Team Sprint – UW
  • 11th Team Pursuit – UW
These results were also tallied up to calculate team omnium results:
  • D1 8th – UW
  • D2 12th – Seattle University
  • D2 13th – Bellevue College

We’d also like to wish Nancy Williams a speedy recovery from her crash down in Colorado Springs.

Great work Marymoor competitors!  Plan to join us for our final week of Friday Night Racing and help us close out the season.
