Burnaby Featured Night This Friday!

In case you haven’t noticed, there’s an indoor track up just across the border that is still hosting weekly racing.  The Burnaby Velodrome is an exciting and local race venue that supports a lively and active racing community.  In fact, many racers that frequent our track are from the Vancouver region.  If you haven’t taken the time to check it out, or maybe you’ve never been up before, this Friday would be an excellent opportunity to make the trip up!

This Friday, November 15th, the Burnaby Velodrome will be hosting its second edition of the “Feature Friday Night Race Series”.  What’s all the hub-bub about?  The FFNRS is a huge effort by the velodrome to get more racers and spectators to enjoy their awesome venue.  And they pulled out all the stops – there will be a DJ, a beer garden, and of course the excellent racing action that is the hallmark of their track. I for one will be enjoying the live music and beverages, while trying not to get too dizzy watching the speedsters go around their 200m track.  200 meters, you read that right!

In fact, the Burnaby Velodrome is small enough to fit inside of the Marymoor Velodrome.  The corners, banked at 47 degrees, are an entirely different animal in comparison to the gently leaning corners of Marymoor.  And at only 200 meters in total length, racers will be zipping around their laps much faster than you might think.

A reminder from Burnaby – if you’re an international racer thinking of making the trip, make sure you hava UCI (international) licensce on hand.  For more info, check out their website or even better yet their facebook event.

Hope to see many of you up north!
