This next story is a going to be a novel one.  And by novel story, I mean “novel-esque”.  Because now that it’s about to be June, there is a LOT of stuff to go over and get you pumped up about.  None the least of these is the return of the Limbo to next Friday’s racing for another round of JDRF fund raising goodness.  See picture below to sample the awesome, read the rest of the story to know more about what other things are coming your way.

New Racing Starts This Week

This week will be the first Monday Night and Wednesday Night racing of the season.  Don’t know what that means?  Here’s a quick overview.

Monday Night hosts Cat 4 men, our “Sprint Mania” format, and the Junior racers.  In other words, there’s a lot of great practice going on Monday nights, whether you’re looking to upgrade, grow a few inches, or just get a bit faster finishes.

Wednesday Night hosts Masters A/B racing and the Cat 4 Women riders.  Once again, the Wednesday night program offers both high quality racing while still giving some great practice and a place to develop in order to compete on Friday nights.

Want to find the rest of the info?  Then let me show where to go. Monday Night Information PageWednesday Night Information Page.

First Junior Track Classes Start This Week

The Jennie Reed Juniors will be getting their first day of instruction starting this week.  9-16 year old riders will be getting a taste of what it’s like to race on the track, all while being introduced to the sport by our excellent track instructors.  There are two classes starting up, one that meets Monday and Wednesday and another that meets Tuesday and Thursday.  By the end, your junior rider will be ready to show up on a Monday night and start racing the track of champions (like Jennie Reed!).

Registration is $100, and spots are still open.  Head to our registration page and get started today.

Friday Night Racing, Second Week

There are several things to point out for our second Friday Night of racing.  The very first Nutcase Kiddie Kilo will be going on during the race program.  Designed for very young riders (generally 2 to 12 years of age), there is no entry fee for participation and we allow any kind of bike on the track (as long as you got a helmet of course!).  Interested in having your youngster go the distance in Marymoor?  Just show up Friday night and be sure to ask around to sign-up for the racing.  In addition to the racing, Nutcase is raffling off a free helmet!  All Kiddie Kilo participants are entered into the raffle automatically.

What’s more, the second and final JDRF Northwest Lumberjack Championships are happening this Friday as well!  (I told you this was a long article.)  JDRF, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, is an awesome group working to raise money to help put an end to a terrible disease.  As part of their efforts, the Northwest Chapter of JDRF has put together their very own lumberjack games to compete in, including the Cyclo-log Pull, the Bike toss, and the Two-wheel Limbo.  Prizes are available for all of these events as well.  To go with their fun and games, all purchases of Beer and Food at the Velodrome will go directly into supporting JDRF and helping them reach their fund raising goal.  Come out and support them by either registering for their lumberjack games or consider purchasing some food and beverage Friday night.  Here’s all the ways you can participate:

  • $35 on-line registration for participating in the game, a barbecue dinner, one beer, and spectator admission for Friday Night Racing.  This will be $40 at the gate.  Register online here!
  • $25 for adults to register for just the games, while kids cost $15.
  • $15 to get barbecue and a beer.
  • $10 for just a barbecue, $5 for every beer you buy
  • $?? – Consider donating!

See you at the Track!!
