The Fred C. Rehberger Memorial State Championships are an amazing opportunity for Juniors and Masters to come out experience a full and diverse racing schedule, all while racing in age groups competing for medals and prizes.  Too cool!  You can feel good inviting your friends and family too, because Admission is Free.  And in true “Fred” style, there is a Team Omnium trophy up for grabs. Last year’s defending champs, the Fischer Plumbing squad, will certainly be looking to keep their hands on this beautiful hardware…

We at the MVA simply can’t emphasize how awesome an event this is – the schedule is diverse and the atmosphere truly is one-of-a-kind.  Everyone comes out to have a great time and that’s what we expect to see again this year.  Fred was all about supporting other racers and encouraging people, and that positive environment is what makes this event worth checking out.  Even if you’re new to the sport or don’t feel like your in the absolute best shape… WHO CARES!? Come out and have a blast!  You might catch yourself setting a PR or taking a chance and going all out for a race you don’t usually do.

On top of this, there is a Beer Garden on Saturday July 12th, a Kiddie Kilo, Free Admission, a Bad Hat Competition and Raffle prizes!  And yes, that means you get a prize for having the best of the worst (or the worst of the best) hat during the weekend, so make sure to sport your look.  There really are a lot of good reasons to come out and hang with all of us at Marymoor this next weekend.

To summarize, the FCR site puts it best…

Did You Know…

  • This is your chance to experience nearly all the different types of International track racing.

  • Masters Cat 4 Women can race mass start after completing Thursday nights!

  • Masters 55+ Categories 1-4 Racers eligible for Mass Start & Kierin (5 Racers required for Cat 4 entry)

  • The Wine & Beer Garden on Saturday Evening is back!!!

  • Kiddie Kilo on Saturday Night!!!

  • Your team can win the “Fred C. Rehberger Trophy (for USAC/WA State Registered Teams only).

  • If you have a sun hat that’s so bad it’s embarrassing, and you have the nerve to wear it, you could win a prize!

  • Bike rentals are FREE for Category 4 Women & Juniors!

  • It will make you better looking if you race it! Really, all of last year’s racers (and volunteers) are 10-times better looking now, just ask them!

Race Schedule

Instead of writing the whole race schedule, I suggest you check out the race schedule here.  Here it is summarized anyways:

Race Flyer

Please click this link or the photo below to link to the Race Flyer on the FCR website for all the nitty gritty details.  Most importantly, there is only day-of registration available on Saturday starting at 7:30 AM, so get there and be ready!  Don’t forget a tent/canvas as well, as shade will certainly be at a premium at the hot spots throughout the day.

Eligibility is summarized on this page.  Note that out of state competitors can come race, though you will not receive state champion medals for placing.  Don’t worry, there will be other medals to take home!

We hope to see you out for the Masters/Juniors State Championships.  Besides…

“Fred Would Go”!
