If you are on the west side and want to support the MVA, look no further! On September 29th 11-2 you can support the MVA by eating at Where ya at Matt (http://whereyaatmatt.com/) which will be located at the F5 Networks HQ on Elliot Ave, all the proceeds will go to the velodrome!  This seems like the perfect pairing: Eat Great Food = Support the MVA!  Thanks F5 for supporting local non-profits!

Season Finale – Sept 26th!

posted in: Uncategorized 0

The schedule for the finale is one you DON’T want to miss (http://velodrome.org/mva/content/friday-night-schedule-0).  The State Championship Keirin along with the infamous Co-Ed madison are the feature races.  So, men if you don’t have a date for the co-ed madison it is time to start asking!  Also because this is our last FNR we need to finish 2 kegs, so bring your growlers for discounted fills from Mac and Jacks brewery.  This will also be the last time to be the official wine of Marymoor Velodrome – Red Line.

With the season coming to an end our focus turns to the season points standings (http://velodrome.org/mva/content/results).  Some categories are already decided while others are neck and neck.  The season finale will make or break the season standings!!!  Our Monday, Wednesday, Sprint and Madison season omnium’s have already finished and we would like to say congratulations to the following people:

  • Juniors – Justin Dorgan
  • Cat 4 Men – Nathan Camp
  • Cat 4 Women – Katie Bergerson
  • Master A’s – Randy Boettcher
  • Master B’s – Steven Bleifuhs
  • Madison – Dave Dipetrillo
  • Men Sprints – Andrew Carlberg
  • Women Sprints – Amara Edwards

The Season Omnium prizes will be awarded on Friday, so come out and watch or participate!

Starcrossed, Incoming!

It’s that time of year again when the crazies (read: Cyclocrossers) come out to play on the weekends and make a big mess of everything! Ok, sarcasm aside, this is one of the most entertaining events you can attend all Summer long, and it’s coming to Marymoor this weekend. There’s some important information, times and dates to share with everyone so keep reading to get the full scoop.

For the unitiated, let’s give you a quick primer/introduction to cyclocross. Instead of words, I’ll just let some pictures do the talking.

plus…

plus…

plus…

Add it all up and somehow you get cyclocross! Just watch single speed and you’ll understand that last photo…

But what about Friday Night Racing!?!

Don’t you worry, track purist! Friday Night Racing is on this week. Want to race the track the right way? Show up with plenty of registration and warm-up time before our racing gets underway at 7:00 PM. As usual, the evening is complimented nicely by our beverage garden featuring Mac & Jack’s delicious beers and OS Winery’s fantastic wines.

Most importantly, THE SPECTATOR FEE IS GONE FOR THE REST OF SEPTEMBER!  Free spectator entrance is a pretty cool thing.

The racing this week includes Madisons and Sprints, so don’t miss out on the fun.

Wait a sec, this was about Starcrossed!?!

Right, back to the focus of the article… For Starcrossed, the most important things to note are the following:

  1. The track will still host racing this Friday night the 12th.
  2. Starcrossed will occupy the track all day Saturday the 13th and there will be no open track time for the entirety of Saturday.
  3. They will be cleaned up and out of Marymoor before Sunday, so open track should resume per usual the following day.

Interested in attending? The Deschutes Brewery Beer Garden opens up at 3:00 PM, so maybe that would be a good time to shoot for. The beer garden is front and center in the action and surrounded on every side with racing.

Interested in racing? Pre-registration ONLY! No day of. Please check out their website and get signed up before spots fill up. Here’s the direct link to pre-registration through BikeReg.

See you at the track!

Want to be a board member?

We need new board members! We’ll be having 5 positions opening up at the end of the season (2 one-year terms, and 3 two-year terms). Sitting on the MVA board is a great way to directly affect change within the organization, and it’s how we’re able to maintain and grow events like the Marymoor Grand Prix, Masters Nationals, and our weekly race series and classes. Plus, you get to hang out with myself and the illustrious Matti Herz! We’ll be considering applications at the September 9th meeting at 7pm at Mercer Island Community Center, as well as any additional applications at the October board meeting, so get apps in soon!

Please e-mail the following to kristian.km@gmail.com, or message me on Facebook:

Name
Desired Position (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Member)
Desired Term Length (One-Year/Two-Year/No Preference)
E-mail
Phone number
A one-ish page personal statement on why you want to be on the board, and what you plan to focus on. Optionally, include any specific committees (racing, fundraising, finance) that you would be interested in.
