Support Merrick’s Journey to the World Championships in China!

Jerry Baker Junior rider Merrick Gallagher has qualified for the World Championships in Luoyang, China!! Team USA/USAC provides only partial financial support, and thanks to your donations and support over the years, the Jerry Baker Development Fund is providing for all remaining expenses. Developing world-class cycling athletes takes substantial resources, and almost every competitive nation receives government funding for Olympic sports development.

What We Are Asking

The Marymoor Velodrome Association is asking for your help raising money to sustain and rebuild the Jerry Baker Development Fund. Due to the extraordinary expense in sending riders internationally for Worlds, the fund is in need once again of donations to maintain a level of funding that can make a difference next time. If you are excited to see one of our local Jerry Baker Junior riders heading to worlds, if you’ve ever been inspired by Merrick’s meteoric rise this year, or perhaps you were there to witness first hand his speed and athleticism on display at Junior Nats, we’re hoping you’ll be inspired to give generously to the Development Fund and in turn support the next rider in need as they prepare for the next level of competition.

All donations received via this campaign will be designated for the Jerry Baker Development Fund, a fund under the supervision of the Marymoor Velodrome Association that is designated for rider development from within our athlete community. In addition to the rest of our of our athlete development programs, Worlds, Nationals, Pan-Ams, and other next-tier traveling competitive opportunities are all examples of events that the fund pays out to support our riders. Your contributions help cover travel, visas, accommodation, and competition fees for these athletes. These expenses are only partially covered by USAC in some cases and the Development Fund provides a way for our community to provide much needed financial support for our athletes when the time comes.

If you already donated via our raise-the-paddle at the auction or for the junior team lap-a-thon, THANK YOU for your past support! Your money is already being utilized and helping support Merrick and other riders towards great results and finishes. If you haven’t yet donated though, this is a great opportunity to give to a charitable non-profit in 2024 to help support athletes now and in the future.
