The MVA Youth Cycling Program introduces participants ages 9-16 to the sport of track cycling through classes that focus on safety, skills and track cycling basics. We offer classes throughout the summer that are taught by experienced coaches and national level racers.

Camp Velo

Kids ages 9-16 - This class teaches participants basic track bicycle riding skills, safety and introductory racing techniques. All you need is a helmet, as track bicycles are provided! The class meets 2.5hrs for an entire week, and at completion, students get a t-shirt. After taking Camp Velo, students are eligible for free beginner training times and racing on the track during Monday Night Junior Racing. Camp Velo registration costs $200.

Try the Track

Introductory class intended to get new youth to try the velodrome for FREE. This 1.5 hour class will introduce riders with fixed gear bicycles and get them riding on the velodrome by the end of the class. Kids must be 9-16 years old and at least 4 feet tall.

Kiddie Kilo

The Kiddie Kilo is open to anyone that can ride a bicycle, tricycle, a scoot bike... anything goes! Young children as young as 2 have participated in this fun ride around the track. Held on the first and third Friday of every month, show up a bit early to register, and don't forget your helmet! Friday Night Racing starts at 7:00 PM, the kiddie kilo usually starts around 7:30 PM, and not even in the worst case does the event run past 8:00 PM.
