Since the beginning of Derby Days, it’s been about bicycles. Known then as the Redmond Bicycle Derby, the “race around the lake” has always been about how integral cycling is to the Redmond community. The race, and the surrounding event, has looked different ways over the years, but no community of cyclists has caried the tradition of great cycling community up better than the Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome!
The City of Redmond and the Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome are teaming up this year to make Derby Days an incredible event at the track – you don’t want to miss it! There’s lots of ways to get involved around over the weekend. If you live in or near Redmond, you owe it to yourself to come out to the velodrome! See below for how you can be a part of the action and join the fun.
Try The Track Derby Days Special!
Starting as a track cyclist is as easy as signing up for a class. Not everyone is ready for taking the full four hour class – maybe you’re curious or just want to see what it’s like out on the velodrome. Try the Track is exactly what you’re looking for.
We’re happy to bring you four adult try the track classes on Saturday, July 15th! Here’s what you need to know!
- Classes are FREE! (Donations accepted)
- Registration is for a one-hour on the track with help from our staff, from Noon-1, 1-2, 2-3, or 3-4, your choice.
- A fixed gear track bike rental is included with your sign-up, just bring a helmet!

Live audiences make the racing that much more exciting. Our big show is Friday Night! Join us in person for great racing, an sprint invitational with top local talent, our beverage garden serving Locust Ciders and Postdoc Brewing, the kiddie kilo (more below) and our food trucks Anthony’s Finn, Tabassum, and Good Belly LLC!

Derby Days Kidde Kilo
The Kiddie Kilo invites littles, youngsters, kids up through age 12 to the track to ride whatever bike, trike, push bike, unicorn on two or more wheels, or any bike-adjacent they got for a fun lap around the track. What more could you ask for?!?
Join us on Friday, July 14th during the Friday Night Race in celebrating the future of sport (and all things!) when we send off more than an anticipated 100 young athletes for their free and fun lap around the track.
